Hyderabad: Cyber Crime Station (CCS) Police on Wednesday arrested two
persons following their alleged involvement in cheating public in the
name of marriage bureau. The duo duped nearly 180 persons to the tune of
Rs 6 lakh. The police seized Rs 80,000 and a two-wheeler from their
possession.
According to police, the duo was identified as Ayodya Bhasker Rao of Fathe Nagar, Ranga Reddy district and Tanuku Nirmala of Quthbullapur. While Bhasker hails from Guntur, Nirmala is native of Krishna district. As per their modus operandi, they published advertisement with a contact number in a local newspaper. On seeing the advertisement, several people approached Bhasker who later directed them to Nirmala.
As per the procedure, candidates have to pay Rs 5,000 towards registration and other expenses and thus their bureau will help them in finding suitable match. If a person is interested, Nirmala would message their bank account number and then ask them to deposit the amount either one time or in installments. Once a person deposits the amount, they used to be in touch with them for one week or ten days. Later, they would remove sim card and change the mobile number.
