AP Video News-Ongole To Be Separate Capital of Andhra Pradesh-Newsmasthi.com

Ongole might end up being the new capital of Andhra Pradesh after a new state of Telangana is carved out of it with Hyderabad as its capital. Sources in the Union Home Ministry indicate that due to the huge availability of government lands required to build basic infrastructure required for a state capital city, Ongole is the preferred choice of central government, at least for now. Sources also inform that a review meeting was held by the home ministry chaired by Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram along with Union Home Secretary G.K. Pillai after the announcement on December 9th that the process of formation of Telangana state has begun. Union Home Ministry being the concerned department looking to such matters, also appointed an Under Secretary rank IAS officer working in the ministry as special officer to look into the administrative matters involved in creating Telangana state. This officer was asked to prepare a detailed report, along with a draft bill on Telangana to be presented in Parliament, on the allocation of existing resources, sharing of water, debts, revenues etc. This officer is said be holding discussions with retired IAS officers and ideologues from both the regions on sharing resources.
