AP Political News-Dharmana Prasada Rao Resigns His MLA post-Newsmasthi.com

Tension prevailed for more than two hours at the house of former Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao

with the representatives of APNGOs Association and Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Forum organising a

massive protest demanding his resignation from the State Assembly. Heavy security was arranged

at Dharmana’s house from early hours with the announcement of the agitators that they would

organise demonstration seeking his immediate resignation. They also strongly condemned the

reported statement of TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao who had said that Andhra employees

should leave Hyderabad after formation of the new State.

APNGOs Association leaders Chowdaru Purushottam Naidu, Hanumanthu Sairam and B. Umamaheswara Rao

argued with the police officials over putting up heavy barricade to prevent their protest.

The forum members Swami Srinivasananda, Jami Bhima Shankar, D. Vishnumurthy, Geeta and others

also raised slogans against Mr. Prasada Rao saying that his resignation along with other public

representatives would mount pressure on the AICC leadership to withdraw the decision to form

Telangana State with Hyderabad as capital.

The police said that Mr. Prasada Rao was not present in the camp office and went to participate

in official programmes in Ampolu and other areas.

The office staff informed him about the agitation, forcing Mr. Prasada Rao to come back to

Srikakulam. Addressing the agitators, he assured that he would ‘sacrifice’ his MLA post at

appropriate time while saying that he had to speak in the Assembly to protect the interests of

Andhra region. “I am also not happy with the decision of the AICC leadership. I will certainly

resign from Srikakulam MLA’s post if it is necessary. Meanwhile, I am filing a case in the

Supreme Court to protect the interests of the Andhra region,” he told agitators.
