Indian Political News-Coal scam: Missing Files Block CBI Probe, Opposition Alleges Cover Up-Newsmasthi.com

New Delhi: The coal scam continues to haunt the government as crucial files required by the CBI have gone missing from the records. Sources tell CNN-IBN that the CBI's repeated letters to the Coal Ministry have failed to get a response.
According to the sources, the missing Coal Ministry files have details of the procedure and criteria adopted to allocate coal blocks and the reasons why the eligible companies had failed to make the cut.
The files are also said to have the details about the minutes of crucial screening committee meeting on May 1, 2005. They are also believed to contain the recommendations that were offered by the states that only certain companies and people were favoured. Sources claimed that Congress MP Vijay Darda and Navin Jindal have been named in FIRs by the CBI.
