New Delhi: Lashkar-e-Toiba bomb maker Abdul Karim alias Tunda helped underworld don Dawood Ibrahim push fake Indian currency notes from Pakistan though his network, sources said on Tuesday. The 70-year-old LeT bomb expert also claimed that Dawood has close links with the Pakistani intelligence agency, the ISI.
Tunda, according to sources, claimed that Iqbal Kana, a Dawood aide is close to a Brigadier of the ISI. Hetold interrogators that Kana used Tunda's residence as a focal point for pushing fake notes, which were printed in Islamabad and Peshawar.
Tunda, the source claimed, said that he used his network to help Dawood smuggle the currency notes into India. Tunda reportedly confessed to have sent fake notes worth crores into India.
The source added that he used to also hire cloth merchants for the purpose to escape the radar of Indian authorities.
The modus operandi was that Iqbal Kana would use his Pakistani passport to travel to Thailand where Dawood has a considerable hold. From here fake Indian currency notes would be sent to Bangladesh from where Tunda would send the money to the Indo-Nepal border using his network. The money was later pushed into India
